Precisava conectar meu celular Motorola V555 no Ubuntu para transferências de arquivos e contatos, e após algumas pesquisas tive a não-surpresa de ver o sistema rodar melhor que no Mobile Phone Tools do Windows, então colocarei aqui como configurei utilizando o Ubuntu Edgy Eft.
Primeiro precisamos ativar o módulo do Kernel, com o celular conectado no micro via USB, dê o seguinte comando com a conta Root ativada:
# modprobe cdc_acm
Se não retornar nada é porque o comando foi bem-sucedido, se retornar alguma mensagem de erro, talvez você tenha que recompilar o kernel com esse módulo.
Então para testar a conexão, dê o seguinte comando:
# dmesg | grep ACM
Ele deve retornar algo parecido com:
cdc_acm 3-2:1.0: ttyACM0: USB ACM device
isso quer dizer que o celular foi reconhecido com sucesso.
Agora vamos dar as permissões de acesso, dê o seguinte comando:
# ls -lh /dev/ttyACM0
ele deve retornar:
crw-rw---- 1 root dialout 166, 0 2007-02-03 17:15 /dev/ttyACM0
caso não retorne, então crie o link com o comando:
# mknod /dev/ttyACM0 c 166 0
e dê a permissão com o comando:
# chmod a+rw /dev/ttyACM0
Agora o celular está conectado, vamos instalar e configurar os programas. No caso precisaremos de 2 programas, um é o Kmobiletools, um programa desenvolvido com a biblioteca QT, para gerenciar as mensagens SMS, e-mails, contatos. O outro programa é o Moto4lin, um programa p2k onde você muda as configurações do celular, manipula arquivos, temas, java, etc. É possível até deletar os arquivos bloqueados pelo celular, como alguns vídeos e fotos, liberando mais espaço.
No terminal, vamos digitar o seguinte comando:
$ sudo apt-get install kmobiletools
Depois você execulta o programa com o comando:
$ kmobiletools
Ou ir no menu Aplicações > Acessórios > Kmobiletools, na primeira vez que executar provavelmente irá gerar um erro, pois não configuramos ainda, vai em Device, e em Mobile phone device digite /dev/ttyACM0, em port speed coloque 115200 e clique em ok. Pronto, o programa está pronto para usar, agora vamos instalar o moto4lin, no terminal digite o comando:
$ sudo apt-get install moto4lin
Após instalar, chame o programa no terminal:
$ sudo moto4lin
Vai em Settings > Preferences > Connection, e onde está ACM Device, coloque /dev/ttyAMC0 e clique em ok, depois vai em Connect para conectar-se ao celular e clique em Update list e o programa carregará todos os diretórios do celular.
O ícone do moto4lin não é configurado automaticamente, pelo menos não do Edgy, então você pode adicionar ele no menu com o editor de menu, no caso do Edgy, vai em Sistema > Layout do Menu e clique em Novo item, escolha o ícone, no nome coloque Moto4lin, no comentário coloque o que quiser, e no comando digite: sudo moto4lin, marque a opção "Executar comando num terminal". Toda vez que você iniciar ele vai precisar da senha do sudo.
Pronto. Não se esqueça de fazer um backup dos arquivos do celular antes de fazer alterações no mesmo para que você não tenha problemas. ;)

não consegui conectar ao celular pelas dicas, quando conecto o cabo ele abre uma tela para acesso ao celular em /media/ipod, teria algo a ver?

Daniel tente executar o moto4lin como superusuário:
$ sudo moto4lin
O meu aqui só funciona assim.
rafasmm no seu caso, acho que o sistema reconhece seu celular como dispositivo mp3 pelo cartão, não posso afirmar com certeza pois nunca conectei esse modelo, o tutorial serve bem pra série V, tente conectar o celular sem o cartão para ver se funciona.

Só queria registrar que não consegui baixar o moto4lin pelo apt-get. Tive que pegar de um site. Mas foi fácil achar.

Deve ser porque por default o K1 vem habilitado para acesso direto ao cartão, portanto ao conectar ele o Ubuntu monta o dispositivo e vc ja pode acessar direto os dados do cartão pelo Nautilus por exemplo. Para acessar os dados do telefone vc deve configurar a conexão do aparelho para acesso ao mesmo, assim ao abrir o moto4lin ira conseguir conectar e acessa-lo.

Isso está parecendo problema referente à permissão, dê uma olhada como o meu moto4lin está configurado.

O seu kmobiletools está funcionando normalmente?
pelo que vejo, seu celular está sendo reconhecido, só que o moto4lin não está conseguindo conectar-se à ele.

O Wammu e o KmobileTools conectam =),mas o moto4lin que é o mais importante não :-[

Cara,
Isso deve acontecer pq seu aparelho tem suporte ao AAC, o formato da apple. :-\ Até no próprio windows, se vc conectasse ele e o iTunes tivesse rodando, ele iria reconhecer o seu celular como um ipod.
O mp3 player dele é em java, ou é o proprio iTunes? ???

é o seguinte:
Conectei meu Motorola V3 com kmobiletools e também com o moto4lin. O segundo serve para upload e download de arquivos do celular e o primeiro "deveria" servir para sincronizar/editar/atualizar a agenda do telefone, correto? Só que ele não tem opção nenhuma para isso ou, ao menos, eu não a encontrei.

O A1200, é possivel configurar, pois fiz o tuto e não consegui atualizar os contatos.

Existe no modelo A1200 da motorola (que usa sistema operacional Linux) a grande possibilidade de
sincronizar com o Evolution:http://www.ohli.de/?J2MESync
Segui a dica, instalei o multisync e o debian que ele indica e nada. Não consegui instalar o arquivo que ele fala para compilar, será esse o problema? O multisync funciona, habilita sincronizar com o Evolution, mas o plugin dele (J2MESync) não aparece. Pelo que entendi, tenho que ter bluetooth no micro.
Alguém possui esse aparelho, ou similar, que tenha conseguido sincronizar com o Evolution ou Kontact?
Se alguém conseguiu, por favor me informe como. Estou desesperado!!!!

O P2KMOTO antes de instalar pede pra voce gerar o script mas quan dou o comando apt-get install libqt-headers libqt-mt-dev libqtc102 libqtc102-mt qt3-designer qt3-dev-tools gcc make retorna a mensagem: impossivel achar libqtc-headres.
Se alguem puder me ajudar ficaria agradecido

Eu tentei e consegui no Motorola K1M (TDMA) da Vivo e estou usando o Kurumin, não o Ubuntu [não obstante, como se trata de configurar o programa, acho que tanto faz qual é a distribuição do Linux]
Só que para isso eu tive que mexer em algumas coisinhas do Kmobietools e do Moto4lin:

2) na guia 'mobile phone' eu escolhi 'Motorola (C350, C650)
2.1) Maquei a opção 'ATD Dial System' [embora esse eu ache que não tem muito a ver com o reconhecimento do aparelho]
3) Na guia 'Device', no campo 'Mobile Device Phone' eu coloquei '/dev/ttyACM0'
3.1) Meu campo 'Port Speed' já marcava '115200' e mantive assim;
4) Não mexi nos outros campos.
Moto4lin:
1) Coloquei "ACM Device" como '/dev/ttyACM0'
2) Depois deixei os seguintes valores para as demais linhas:
AT Vendor Id: 22b8
AT Product ID: 4902
P2K Vendor ID: 22b8
P2K Product ID: 2a61
3) Marquei a Opção 'Auto connect to device'
4) Apertei o botão 'Switch o P2K'
5) Dei um update list ainda na janela de 'preferences' (dentro do quadro USB View), selecionei meu aparelho celular que apareceu nessa lista e mandei 'set as P2K device'.
Sei que a dica pode parecer meio idiota [sou absolutamente novo no Linux] mas como funcionou para mim, acho que vale a pena passar para outros tentarem.

então, estou com o ubuntu 8.04 aqui e até agora nada...se alguém conseguiu ae e quiser dar uma força, agradeço mesmo..

Olá amigo desenvolvi todos os passos neste tutorial exceto por ter baixado a versão 3.0 Gprs_Easy_Conncet, e depois quando dei o comando ./INSTALL.sh, rebebi a seguinte mensagem - ./INSTALL: Error while loading shared libraries: libgbtk-1.2.so.O: Cannot Open shared object file: No such file or directory - Puxa preciso mesmo de ajuda para estabelecer minha conexão de internet, pois preciso urgentemente banir o windows daki de casa é a unica doisa que falta para que isto ocorra ok agradeço!

Não conheço esse 3.0 Gprs_Easy_Conncet. O que é? Em minha instalação, não precisei disso.

Ressucitando [3].. Tipow meu a1200 da motorola chega até abrir as pastas,mais na hora de abrir os arquivos....
1. quando vou abrir uma imagem. abre o programa, mais a imagem q eh bom nda.
2. eu tentar abrir uma musica ou um video, abre o player, mais naum a musica....
se alguem souber alguma coisa, por favor responda..
desculpe minha ignorancia. eh q eu estou começando a usar o ubuntu agora (melhor o linux). nunca tinha usado por isso naum sei nada ainda... kkkk
