Problemas na resolução do notebook

Olá pessoal, sou novo no fórum e também em linux.

Uso o Ubuntu 7.04

Estou com problemas na resolução do meu notebook. Tenho um note itautec w7630 com placa de vídeo on-board (VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP) e só tenho como opções de resolução 800x600 e 640x480. Já editei o xorg.conf sem sucesso.

Quando mudo o driver para "via" o X não carrega.

Lembrando que a resolução que pretendo usar é 1440x900.

Olá amigo, eu tenho um notebook acer aspire 5630-6091, a resolução q uso eh 1280x800, antes eu usava 1024x768, pois ele só dava essa opção. Ai descobri no synaptic que tinha um pacote "915resolution" (para intel) e meu pc tem a placa da intel, ai a partir desse momento ele passou a oferecer 1280x800, que é o que eu queria, ou seja, o que quero dizer, tente procurar no synaptic algo relativo a isso, as vezes é parecido com o meu. Vou pesquisar sobre isso, quem sabe obtenho algum exito.

Sim, exato...eu disse no meu post que só funciona em placas da intel, mas o que eu quis dizer, é que, quem sabe, poderia existir algo parecido com o 915resolution, mas para placas da VIA...

Sei que não é a que vc pretende mais pelo menos vc terá mais opções, porem eu estou pesquisando para tentar melhorar mais ainda.

A solução e a melhor resolução    para o seu Note está na postagem Placa de Video Via S3 Unicrhome IGP, a placa do Note Itautec W7630 (eu tenho um).

Eu uso a resolução 1440x900, uma maravilha. Não consegui rodar os efeitos da área de trabalho, apesar de ter instalado os drive para o efeito 3D. Segundo li, esta placa não funciona com o Beryl e/ou Compiz.
