Eu uso o Ubuntu 20.04, e testei a plank - resolvendo desinstalar logo após.
No entanto, ao rodar o terminal, aparece a seguinte mensagem:
bash: /etc/profile.d/vte.sh: Arquivo ou diretório não encontrado
Como resolver?

No seu terminal comande:
sudo apt update
E copie tudo, de cima abaixo e cole aqui

Esse problema não tem nada a ver com a plank. Eu nunca usei ou instalei a plank e tenho esse arquivo no meu computador. No seu, provavelmente foi removido.
Vc pode instalar o pacote libvte-2.91-common novamente.
