Não sei se esta é a área certa para o meu problema com a interface gráfica.

Não instalei ou removi programa a não ser com atualizações.
Estou usando a versão instável 7.10,

Bem meu problema é que não consigo entrar mais como usuário normal na interface gráfica, apenas como root.

A mensagem que dá é a pasta do USUARIO 644, leitura e gravação, leitura, leitura. ja alterei para 777, e outras opção mas sem sucesso.

como é que eu faço para mostra melhor as saídas de erros que estou tendo.

Com o dmesg, ajudaria?

Olá, gostaria de dar a dica para impressora Epson Stylus CX3700 funcionar no Ubuntu Dapper

Para impressora já tem o drive no Dapper em vai em Sistema/Adminstração/Imprimindo adcionar nova impressora ja vai localizar a CX 3700 é so marcar a opção usar outra impressora especificando uma porta. Clicar em avançar e seguir os passor de tudo blz. Uma dica em vez de mandar faz o teste de impressão abre o Openoffice e digita uma coisa qualquer e manda imprimir pois o teste de impressão gasta muita tinta.

Para o scaner se vc foi testar o seu scanner e apareceu dispositivo nao encontrado faça o seguinte comando:
$ sudo lsusb

agora vc da o seguinte comando $sudo gedit /etc/sane.d/epson.conf e procura a linha usb e colocar esta informaçoes

ficando assim o arquivo

Olá, bom eu estava usando o firefox 1.5.0.3 e foi atualizado para 1.5.0.4 atraves das atualizaçoes automaticas eu mesmo mandei instalar a atualização.
Quando eu estava usando o 1.5.0.3 eu instalei o java atraves do Automatix, pois manualmente nao havia conseguido http://forum.ubuntubrasil.org/

Agora que estou usando o 1.5.0.4 notei que o java nao esta funcionando fiz os procedimentos de novo mas sem sucesso.
Tentei atraves do EasyUbuntu e também nada.
