Desculpem, mas de longe eu estou acompanhando o tópico e, a alguns dias atrás estava testando o (K)ubuntu e percebi que a demora na inicialização é sim bem demorada.
Não estou usando ubuntu base, mas sim, um derivado e KDE e deem uma olhada no arquivo de grub do meu Linux:

Não sei se isso tem algo haver, mas meu Linux é instalado em BTRFS, me dando mais espaço livre em disco, maior velocidade em abrir apps etc. Onde também a inicialização é bem veloz pelas customizações. Não tentei ver se no Kubuntu isso seria favorável, mas também grande demora acredite, no (X)ubuntu.
Penso que o ubuntu ficou bem mais pesado nesse tempo (4 anos) em que estive longe de qualquer coisa relacionada a informática.
