Instalação e Atualização / Driver FGLRX no Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon (Tribe 1)

Alguém sabe como resolver o problema com a instalação do "Driver de aceleração de vídeo ATI" pelo Gerenciador de Drivers Restritos?

Toda vez que mando instalar o driver pelo gerenciador, o sistema não consegue mais startar o X, dando o seguinte aviso: "X version mismetch - Detected X.org 1.3.0.0, required X.org 7.1.0.0".

Já efetuei este procedimento em 3 máquinas diferentes, com vídeo ATI, rodando o Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon (Tribe 1) e Kernel 2.6.22-6 e o erro persiste.

Caso alguém já tenha resolvido isto, por favor, poste a solução aqui.

Sistema / Sistema somente leitura. Resolvido!

Houve um erro em meu arquivo “xorg.conf” e não consigo mais startar o X.
Possuo um backup deste arquivo “/etc/X11/xorg.conf_backup”.
Ao logar-me em modo texto, executo o comando

sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf_backup /etc/X11/xorg.conf mas recebo um aviso dizendo que o sistema é somente leitura.

Não é somente este, mas qualquer arquivo que eu tento editar ou alterar, recebo o mesmo aviso.
Nunca havia experimentado problema para alterar arquivos em modo texto. Alguém sabe como posso resolver isto?
Será algum problema com o meu sistema de arquivos (EXT3)?

Já tentei iniciar o sistema com vários kernels e o problema permanece.
Utilizo o Ubuntu Feisty.

Sistema / "umount -a" Conflitando com Driver de Vídeo

Quando utilizo o comando "sudo umount -a" o driver de vídeo para de funcionar.
Após acontecer o problema, ao tentar acessar o Gerenciador de Drivers Restritos, recebo a seguinte mensagem:



Ao reiniciar o sistema, tudo volta ao normal.
Não adianta simplesmente reiniciar o X, tenho que reiniciar o SO!

Ao desmontar as unidades individualmente ("sudo umount /media/x") o problema não acontece.

Ainda não sei qual é a relação que este comando tem com o vídeo.   ???
Se alguém com mais esclarecimento neste assunto tiver alguma idéia de como resolver este conflito, por favor, poste-a aqui.

Gnome / Aceleração 3D fica lenta com o tempo?!

Ao ligar  a máquina está tudo bem.
Jogo UT2004 no máximo de resolução e qualidade, assisto filmes, rodo o NFSU2 pelo Cedega com boa qualidade.
Continuo utilizando a máquina, correio aberto, mensageiros, baixo umas músicas, escuto outras... Em fim, utilização normal. Após algum tempo, ao abrir um filme, o mesmo é executado aos arrastos, quase parando. Jogos abrem com muito esforço e fecham-se sozinhos. Todo o resto funciona normalmente, como Thunderbird, Firefox, Nautilus, MP3 Players, etc... Tudo beleza. Somente aplicações que exigem vídeo apresentam problemas.
Ao reiniciar o X o problema NÃO é resolvido. Somente ao reiniciar a máquina as aplicações de vídeo voltam a funcionar e novamente após algum tempo apresentam novamente o problema.

Aplicativos / Virtual Box - Como rodar WinXP no Ubuntu?

Pessoal,
Minha intenção é acessar o WinXP pelo Ubuntu, por meio do VBox.
Em meu computador, possuo o WinXP e o Feisty em dual boot.
Após instalar o Vbox, como devo fazer para acessar o WinXP que já está instalado, sem ter que instalá-lo novamente?

Servidores / GProFTPd - Acesso externo

Pessoal,
Instalei e configurei o GProFTPd no Feisty.
Localmente estou conseguindo acessar perfeitamente.
Externamente, os clientes FTP, ao acessarem o endereço, recebem o pedido de user e psw mas não conseguem se conectar.

Utilizei o seguinte critério para a criação dos diretórios e usuários:

   Diretório:                       Usuário:

Cada user somente vê sua pasta, com exceção do "user" que vê todas.
Será algum problema com permissões??? Devo configurar alguma permissão especial nos diretórios especificados?

Áudio e Vídeo / Exaile - Como ver o nome do arquivo ao invés do ID3?

Vcs sabem se tem como o Exaile mostrar o nome do arquivo, do diretório e subdiretório como música, artista e álbum?
Grande parte dos mp3 que eu baixo estão com os ID3 mal preenchidos. Então na playlist alguns ficam impossíveis de se identificar.

Gnome / Big Desktop + Beryl + ATI + Feisty

Alguém já conseguiu fazer o Beryl funcionar num Big Desktop com 1280x1024???

Utilizando a opção Xinerama o RandR é automaticamente desabilitado. Aí babaus 3D!
Com a opção MergedFB o Beryl só aceita resolução até 1024x768.
Já a opção de Big Desktop Nativa só consigo fazer funcionar com driver "fglrx" e com este driver não consigo fazer o Beryl fungar.

E aí, alguém tem uma receita de bolo que só a vovó faz???

Gostaria da opinião de vcs sobre mensageiros instantâneos que permitem áudio e vídeo conferência com usuários do Windows Live Messenger.

Sistema / Problema com identificação de HD e slot IDE após inst. do Kernel 2.6.20-14

Possuo 7 HDs instalados, em 4 slots IDE ATA133.
Estava utilizando o Ubuntu 7.04 com o Kernel 2.6.20-13 e atualizei p/ Kernel 2.6.20-14.
Após isto, um dos slots passou a não ser reconhecido pelo sistema, fazendo com que 2 HDs não funcionem e os outros HDs começaram a ser detectados como SDx1.
Ou seja, são 2 os problemas:

- O Slot 4 passou a não ser reconhecido pelo sistema.
- Os HDs passaram a ser identificados como SDx fazendo a configuração do fstab já existente não funcionar.

Ao entrar no sistema com o Kernel antigo tudo voltou a funcionar.
Alguém também teve este problema?
