Bom dia amigos, estou iniciando no Ubuntu agora e estou fascinado com isso tudo!
Encontrei essa comunidade e já me deparei com uma ótima qualidade de dicas e tutorias.
Bom pesquisei e não encontrei nada parecido,
Primeiramente estava com um problema com a Central de Programas Ubuntu que não abria,
pesquisei e encontrei esse seguinte comando usando o Terminal
$sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* ; sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/partial/* ; sudo apt-get clean ; sudo apt-get -f install ; sudo apt-get update
mas quando eu abro o Terminal que colo o comando aparece
sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* ; sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/partial/* ; sudo apt-get clean ; sudo apt-get -f install ; sudo apt-get update
rm: remover arquivo comum "/var/lib/apt/lists/br.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_natty_main_binary-i386_Packages" protegido contra escrita?
digito sim e aparece permissão negada, alguém pode me ajudar referente a isso ?
minha versão Ubuntu 11.04

O comando mencionado acima apenas lhe pedirá sua senha root, portanto é estranho.

digitei, pq me pareceu uma pergunta, sim ou não, digitei sim para ver o que aparecia, mas deu permissão negada

Repita o comando no terminal copie e cole lá>de enter>digite sua senha>enter novamente e aguarde o resultado

Desculpe foi erro meu estava digitando 2x $$ por isso que não ia, agora sim atualizou,
porém a Central de Programas Ubuntu ainda não abre.

Note esses erros em vermelho
Faça o seguinte abra o synaptic>configuração>repositorios>outros softwares
Desmarque tudo que fizer referência a unity-2d
Depois feche e clique no botão recarregar do synaptyc
Espere concluir abra novamente o terminal e dê o comando
sudo apt-get update
Veja se resolveu o problema de erro 404

Desmarquei como vc disse e não apresentou mais o erro, mas a central de programas ainda não abre,
digitei sudo software-center apareceu isso:

Quer dizer que o erro 404 sumiu? Se sim bom!
Desinstale o software-center, sabe com fazê-lo?
sudo apt-get remove software-center
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install software-center
Espere cada um dos comandos completar
Se aparecer algum erro post o resultado de novo aqui e quem sabe o pessoal de mais experiência também ajude

reinicei já diversas vezes, entro no Synaptic > configurações> repositórios e não entra :-\

Estou sem o Central o Synaptic abre, mas quando vou em configurações, clico em repositórios, ele não entra,
detalhe que notei tbm, quando fui no Gerenciador de Atualizações, clico em configuração e tbm não abre.....
Eu já estou pensado em até formatar novamente.

Sempre que você remover alguma coisa do ubuntu te recomendo fazer o sudo apt-get update para verificar como estão os repositórios.
Depois de remover o unity-2d, lembra como abrir a sua sources.list? Lá remova as 4 últimas linhas e novamente sudo apt-get update
E por fim reinicie seu sistema e veja se consegue abrir a central ou o synaptic e configurações e tudo o mais.
Senão amigo vou continuar na pesquisa e você ainda não parta para a reinstalação (último caso) alguém com experiência vai lhe dar uma boa dica.
Estarei sempre por aqui, não abandono os tópicos que participo até porque quero aprender também.

Como removeu e reinstalou o 'software-center', era melhor tê-lo feito fora do ambiente gráfico, indo para tty.
Ctrl+Alt+F1 --> vai para texto puro (tty)
sudo service gdm stop --> pára o ambiente gráfico
Aí atualiza o que precisar, tenta subir novamente o X ou reinicializa o sistema.
sudo service gdm start

Para entrar no modo de recuperação é justamente nessa tela que grifei de vermelho, mas como diz que não aparece mais outro comando

certo consegui entrar no modo de recuperação, porém ele ficou meio que travado, me parece que não consegue completar a recuperação fica parado no mesmo lugar, deixei por uns 15 minutos,
a mesma coisa acontece com CRT+ALT+F1 :-\

Isso que o druidaobelix diz é verdade, pois parece que você mexeu bem no seu sistema.

No "Modo de Recuperação" vá para o modo somente texto com suporte à rede (não lembro bem os exatos termos da entrada mas é mais ou menos isso)
Estando nesse modo, desinstale e instale novamente o software-center, depois reconfigure tudo (demora um pouco para fazer).
Para reconfigurar é o comando que passei uns posts antes (post #26).

A única coisa que sei que mexi foi na mensagem que apresentou para mim, Initramfs, aí acabei apagando Splash quiet e colocando all_generic_ide irqpoll, mas não adiantou, mas fui no modo recuperação e voltou ao normal, fui na lista para ver se ainda estava editada, mas estava como se eu não tivesse mexido, deve ter sido por causa da recuperação.
Formatei o Sistema ontem, eu nem baixei nenhum programa justamente pq a Central não abre, a única coisa que baixei foi o unity 2D e o mesmo já foi removido.

Essa é uma flag de hardware quando há dificuldade de reconhecimento do disco ou conflito de irqs.

quando deu esse problema de Initramfs, pesquisei e vi um problema igual ao meu aonde um user não sei qual, recomendo fazer isso.
O meu problema com o modo de recuperação é que ele não sai da dela em negrito, processa algumas informações, depois ele para e ali fica, não consigo fazer mais nada .... aí tenho que partir para ignorância e desligar o notebook forçadamente.

Então talvez aí devessemos examinar a questão desde o início.
Faça uma breve descrição do seu equipamento, citando marcas e modelos, se o caso.
Diga como foi que fez a instalação e o que ocorreu nela, enfim, um histórico da questão pode auxiliar a compreender melhor o problema.
Parâmetros não devem ser colocados de forma errática na "boot cmdline", que é a linha de comando inicial do sistema, naquilo que comumente se chama de "menu do grub", a tela inicial do sistema.
Esses parâmetros, também conhecidos como 'cheat codes', servem para resolver um problema específico, em regra relacionado ao hardware, digamos assim, são sub-rotinas da rotina principal do kernel.

Estou sem HD, então resolvi utilizar pendrive com o boot,
estava utilizando a versão 10.04 sem nenhum problema,
fiz um download da versão 11.04 e gravei a boot em entro pendrive, tornando ele bootavel,
fiz a instalação apagando a versão anterior, optei por não fazer as atualizações,
terminou a instalação fiz as atualizações recomendadas,
depois disso queria testar o unity 2D, que fiz o download e instalação através da Central de programas,
utilizei por algumas horas e apaguei achando q o mesmo era o que gerava o problema de não abrir a Central.

opa desculpa a demora,
então foi logo após a primeira carga, depois que atualizei, mas eu não consegui reiniciar normalmente,
tive que força o desligamento, então apareceu cinitramfs.
Interessante a instalação, rodando num pendrive de 8GB e ainda com direito a uma swap.

Sou iniciante em linux/ubuntu
Instalei o ubuntu 11.10 e apos a atualizacao a central de programas abre, porem fica uma janela em branco.
Ja li alguns topicos, porem sou tao iniciante que nao sei onde digitar os comandos.
Outro problema que tive foi nao consguir driver para a placa de video (mobile intel x3100)
