É normal do Xorg.conf assim?

Eu estou vindo do Debian Lenny para o Ubuntu, por causa das facilidades para o meu novo notebook.

Mas achei estranho o meu xorg.conf só ter o que esta abaixo, é normal? Ou eu poderia melhorar?

Sim, pelo que me lembro é o normal sim.

Sim.
Se o ubuntu for o 8.04 dê um ALT+F2 "gksu displayconfig-gtk" e configure o monitor e talvez a placa de vídeo (ser for NVidea ou ATI, creio eu).
Com o pasar do tempo o Xorg está cada vez (como dizem) mais "esotérico".
