Instalar Impressora Canon IP 4700

Acabei de instlar o Ubuntu 10.04. E estou tentando instlar minha impressora Canon IP 4700. Quando ligo a impressora o ubuntu reconhece porem nao imprime nada. Tento buscar o driver de instalação e também nao estou conseguindo instalar. Será que alguem aqui pode me ajudar com este problema? Não gostaria de voltar para o Windows simplismente pq minha impressora não funciona. Sou novo no mundo linux e não conheço muita coisa. Espero que alguem possa me ajudar de forma didática, desde já agradeço.

Vou tentar estes passos. Mas tenho que traduzir a página já que meu ingles é horrivel.

Basicamente o que é dito:

Baixe o pacote para sua /home, la de dois cliques para expandir o .tgz

Dentro da pasta que sera criada, existem dois pacotes em .deb. Clique duas vezes sobre eles e instale.

Plugue sua impressora e estará instalada.

Segui as dicas que vc me postou mas há um problema. Falta as linhas de comando.

Estou postando abaixo o que eu traduzi e vou marcar em vermelho os comandos.

O problema é que o pacote de driver é escrito para um sistema de 32 bits e você estiver usando 64 bits. A primeira coisa que o pacote de instalação faz é verificar o seu sistema, e quando ela descobre que é de 64 bits, ele dá a mensagem que você vê. No entanto, isso pode não ser o fim da linha. Muitas vezes, estes 32 pacotes bit continuará a funcionar, você só tem que forçar o instalador do pacote para ignorar o erro.

Gostaria de desinstalar as outras coisas. Não é a origem do problema, mas como eu não sei o que você instalou, há sempre o risco de que alguma coisa vai ser turvando as águas.

Agora tente o seguinte:

Dê um duplo clique sobre o pacote tgz. Como antes.

Na janela do gerenciador de arquivos que aparece, clique duas vezes em "cnijfilter-ip4700series - 3,20-1-i386 deb.tar.gz"

Dê um duplo clique em "cnijfilter-ip4700series - 3,20-1-i386-deb"

Dê um duplo clique em "pacotes"

Agora vamos extrair os dois pacotes para o seu desktop:

Clique no primeiro dos dois arquivos "cnijfilter-common_3.20 i386.deb-1", em seguida, clique no botão "Extrair" no topo.

A janela de localização do arquivo aparece. Selecione Área de trabalho no painel do lado esquerdo e clicar em "Extract" botão no canto inferior direito.

Selecione o arquivo segundo "cnijfilter-ip4700series_3.20 i386.deb-1" e extrair isto para a área de trabalho da mesma maneira.

Agora, precisamos ir para a tela do terminal, clicando no menu "Aplicações" e selecionando "Acessórios-> Terminal"

No terminal digite:



então vamos instalar os pacotes, mas forçá-los a ignorar o erro de digitação:



Você será solicitado a sua senha. Fique atento para todos os hifens e sublinhado!

Agora, se isso funciona, fazer o mesmo para o outro pacote digitando:

Uso Linux Mint Katya, que é baseado em Ubuntu.

Estava tendo dificuldades em instalar impressora Canon iP4700 e acabei chegando a esse Fórum.

Eu até já tinha baixado o driver anteriormente. Resolvi baixar outra vez do site da Canon-Europe. Percebi que existe manual de instalação ao descompactar (não tinha no anterior) e abri (no browser). Segui o tutorial e funcionou corretamente.

Sugiro baixarem de lá.

Transcrevo abaixo o trecho referente à instalação (embora fique melhor se aberto direto no Browser):

"Installation

Top page > Setup > Installation

If you want to install the printer driver in Fedora or openSUSE, log in as root.
In Ubuntu, use the sudo command to install the printer driver.
   

When asked for a password in Ubuntu, enter the password of the user who is currently logged in.

1. Install printer driver.

Install the printer driver by entering the following command from the command line of a terminal software.

For Fedora 11/openSUSE 11.1

1) Expanding the archived file and switching to the expanded directory

[root@zzz /yyy]# tar zxvf cnijfilter-ip4700series-3.20-x-i386-rpm.tar.gz
[root@zzz /yyy]# cd cnijfilter-ip4700series-3.20-x-i386-rpm

2) Installing the printer driver

For Ubuntu 9.04

When the installation is completed, a message instructing you to register the printer is displayed.

Next, register the printer to the computer.
Connect the printer, and then turn on the power.
To use the printer on the network, connect the printer to the network.
When the printer is ready, press the Enter key.

Check that the printer is properly connected and that the power is on. Then press the Enter key.

2. Select the printer.

From the list of detected printers, select the printer to be registered.

Select the printer.
If the printer you want to use is not listed, select Update

• to search again.

To cancel the process, enter [Q].

3. Enter the registered printer name

Enter the registered printer name.
You can specify the desired name as the registered printer name.

Enter the printer name.[IP4700]_

Enter the registered printer name, and press the Enter key.

If the entered printer registration name is already registered, a message confirming whether you want to overwrite the existing information is displayed.

The entered printer name already exists. Do you want to overwrite it? (yes/no) [yes]_
   

If a printer registration name is overwritten, the previously registered printer can no longer be used.

4. Set the default printer.

Set the default printer to be used when the printer name is omitted in the print command.

Do you want to set this printer as the default printer? (yes/no) [yes]_

5. Installation completion

When the installation is completed, the name registered for the installed printer is displayed.
During printing, be sure to specify the printer name displayed here.

Example when IP4700 is registered as the printer name:

Installation has been completed.
Printer Name : IP4700
Select this printer name for printing.

Registering the printer by using lpadmin (reference information)

If the printer registration procedure fails before completion or if the installation process is interrupted and the printer is not registered, you must use lpadmin to register the printer.
   

To delete a printer that was registered with lpadmin, you must use lpadmin to delete it.

Deleting printers by using lpadmin (reference information)

If you want to install the printer driver in Fedora or openSUSE, log in as root.
In Ubuntu, use the sudo command to install the printer driver.
   

When asked for a password in Ubuntu, enter the password of the user who is currently logged in.

1. Restart the CUPS daemon.

Enter the following from the command line of a terminal software:

For Fedora 11/openSUSE 11.1

[root@zzz /yyy]# /etc/init.d/cups restart

For Ubuntu 9.04

[user@zzz /yyy]$ sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart
   

Do not register the printer with lpadmin before you restart the CUPS daemon.

2. Register the printer to the spooler.

Register the printer to the spooler by using lpadmin from the command line of a terminal software. You can specify the desired name as the [printer_name].

/usr/sbin/lpadmin -p [printer_name] -m [PPD_filename] -v cnijusb:/[USB_port] -E

 

If you specify "IP4700" as the [printer_name]:

For Fedora 11/openSUSE 11.1

[root@zzz /yyy]# /usr/sbin/lpadmin -p IP4700 -m canonip4700.ppd -v cnijusb:/dev/usb/lp0 -E

For Ubuntu 9.04

[user@zzz /yyy]$ sudo /usr/sbin/lpadmin -p IP4700 -m canonip4700.ppd -v cnijusb:/dev/usb/lp0 -E

3. Set the default printer.

Set the default printer to be used when the [printer_name] is omitted in the print command from the command line of a terminal software.
Specify this setting only as necessary.

/usr/sbin/lpadmin -d [printer_name]

 

If the [printer_name] is "IP4700":

For Fedora 11/openSUSE 11.1

[root@zzz /yyy]# /usr/sbin/lpadmin -d IP4700
