Semp Toshiba IS1522 - Resoluão de tela

tenho um Semp Toshiba IS1522, instalei o Ubuntu 7.4, utilizando o alternate CD, ele está funcionando bem. Mas a resolução de tela fica em 800 X 600. Já tentei várias alternativas, pesquisando os fóruns e não consegui ainda resolver este problema, não consigo colocar a resolução para 1280 x 800, por exemplo.

A solução está no link acima, onde fica claro que o driver aberto da via não funciona direito.

Tem este wiki também, só que em inglês (imprimindo os dois, fica fácil comparar os procedimentos, já que os nomes dos pacotes podem variar).

Segui as instruções do wiki do openchrome. Verifiquei o xorg.conf, que está com o Driver "openchrome" mas nas opções de resolução em Sistema --> Preferencias --> Resoluçao de Tela ; continua aparecendo somente as opções de 800X 600 e 640 X 480

Não sei mais o que fazer

Antes faça um backup do xorg.conf

Se precisar, vc pode restaurar invertendo a ordem do comando acima:

Agora vamos tentar editar, segundo o tutorial do Fórum Debian.

Na sua "Section "Device" está assim:

Após colocar "via" no lugar de "openchrome" a tela entra em modo texto. Não entra em modo gráfico.
Alterei para "vesa" e funcionou no modo gráfico, mas também só entra na resolução 800 x 600

Retorne ao estado anterior (restaure o backup, como dito acima) e edite novamente o xorg.conf, refazendo o backup antes.

Vamos deixar no xorg.conf apenas uma "subsection "Display", ou seja, esta:

Remova as demais e veja se dá certo.

Copiei o xorg.conf que veio com Insigne e funcionou.
Agora o único problema, aparentemente, é ao dar o boot aparece uma mensagem de
BIOS BUG #81 ....
mas continua a inicialização até o final.
Ainda não encontrei nenhum problema em virtude dessa mensagem.
