Não consigo instalar "curl" para rodar o aplicativo da Steam

Galera, preciso da ajuda de vocês ! Sou bem iniciante em ubuntu, e preciso que expliquem - me bem basicamente o que devo fazer !

Minha versão do ubuntu é a 11.10 (Inspiron-3420 3.0.0-32-generic #51-Ubuntu SMP Thu Mar 21 15:50:59 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux)

Ao tentar instalar o Steam (aplicativo de jogos) , aparece o seguinte erro:

É que essa versão não é suportada ha mais de um ano, a maneira mais de resolver é atualizando pro Ubuntu 14.04 ou 14.10.
