Reparei que o problema ocorre normalmente quando uso o Blender ou algum efeito 3d de proteção de tela.

Valeu pela força...Ah...não dá pra rodar o beryl com essa configuração, dá??
Olá amigo, sobre essa placa tridente, ela é realmente horrível. Quem te vendeu ela ? o! hehhe não vem ao caso agora.
Sobre o xorg.conf o que podemos fazer é tentar usar drivers genéricos do linux. Podemos tentar usar o de outras placas. Tipo tem o "vesa" e o "nv"...nv é pra nvidia e o "vesa" não tenho ctz mas acho que é pra asus ou ati.

Ai rode novamente o teste do "glxgears".
Sobre o beryl, ouvi dizer que na ATI e outras placas é muito difícil fazer rodar por causa dos drivers. Já na NVIDIA é a coisa mais fácil de rodar. Pelo menos aqui foi fácil. Aqui a placa eh NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200.
