Boas pessoal!
Instalei o 7.10 versao final e quando inicio o ubuntu fico com a tela preta..!
Alguem ja teve o mesmo problema??
Alguem me podia ajudar a resolver o problema??

E um laptop toshiba 1.8 ghz, 1gb ram,ati x300 mobility 128mg!!!!

Quando inicio aparece a seguinte mensagem
Starting up ...

depois a tela fica toda preta....

Olha só, fiz uma busca no Google usando a mensagem de erro que você listou acima. Tá aqui o link que achei http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=347376

Nele a pessoa tem problemas para usar o LiveDVD, enquanto que você conseguiu instalar, e aparentemente tem algo a ver com a placa de Vídeo dele, que é uma ATI.

Você chegou a instalar o drive da sua placa? Fez alguma configuração? Ou no primeiro boot já deu este erro?

Que bom que usa a mais tempo, assim fica mais fácil. Tem como você ligar o PC usando o LiveCD e postar o arquivo xorg.conf que foi gravado na instalação no HD?

obs.: Não quero o xorg.conf do sistema do LiveCD, e sim o gravado no HD.

Olha só, se você montou a partição raiz para pegar este arquivo então é ele. O que não pode acontecer é pegar o arquivo /etc/X11/xorg.conf enquanto esta usando o LiveCD.

Entre pelo modo Recovery Mode (ou se tiver condições acesse o terminal através do Alt+F1, ou com o LiveCD) e altere o xorg.conf conforme abaixo. Antes de fazer as alterações faça um backup, apesar dele estar com problemas.

Estando dentro no diretório /etc/X11 de sua instalação faça:

Observações:

Engraçado que sua Section "Files" esta vazia, enquanto a minha não;
Caso você vá copiar o conteúdo aqui para o seu xorg.conf tenha cuidado. Não edite o post para isto pois existem marcadores para negrito, itálico e etc.
Por último não tenho certeza que estou certo, é mesmo um chute na tentativa de ajudá-lo. Entenda isto por favor.

De qualquer forma vou deixar o meu xorg.conf também para você, mas entenda que eu uso o Feisty, então podem (e devem haver diferenças).

Parece k fiz borrada...eu rodei o live cd e na consola dei um sudo gedit etc/X11/xorg.conf logo nao e o do hd no meu caso sd!!!
A minnha duvida e a seguinte para montar o sd como faco?
Pelo live cd na consola como root dei um,
mount -t ext3 /dev/sda5,sem sucesso,nao sei mesmo k s passa sempre rodei o ubuntu sem problemas e agora isto!!!!

Claro que você vai ter que estar rodando com o LiveCD, já que não tem acesso ao sistema. E posta o conteúdo do comando aqui, lógico.

Quando acessar o PC usando o LiveCD abra um terminal (Aplicações > Acessórios > Terminal), e digite os comandos abaixo:

Após isto edite o arquivo assim:

Com o feisty nao aparece essa mensagem exprimentei e rola na boa

Starting up ...

E o sistema inicia normalmente sem complicaçoes.

Olha só eu usaria o Feisty... hehehe...

Deixa eu falar novamente (vou colocar em negrito Bertos, quem sabe alguém lê): Eu nunca usei o Gutsy, não sei se o que vou colocar abaixo esta certo ou errado, então alguém que já ta usando poderia nos dar uma força né?!?!?!?... hehehe....

Vou abaixo marcar o que acho que deve mudar e o que eu acho que esta errado mas não tem como eu saber, ainda! (vou colocar para baixar o Gutsy hoje)

Eu tambem tou com duvidas mas sinceramente nao sei mais que fazer...ja pensei ate ser alguma incompatiblidade com o meu sata...se nao resolver o problema e claro que vou ficar com o feisty que remedio mas gostaria de pelo menos saber a razao pela qual nao consigo por o gutsy a rolar e se possivel resolver essa situaçao que e o que estou a tentar mas sem sucesso!!
