como configurar o moden para um dell inspiron 1525??

Olá boa noite , sou novo no ubuntu , minha máquina também é dual boot vista/ubuntu, minha primeira dificuldade no ubuntu foi configurar meu modem para acessar a internet na minha cidade ainda discada, buscando ajuda neste fórum, a primeira pergunta que me fizeram foi qual meu modem, se você não sabe responder também faça o seguinte :  baixe o programa no endereço
 http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/scanModem.gz e depois faça o que segue abaixo.

Coloque na sua pasta de usuário na home, clique com o botão direito do mouse sobre ele e escolha a opção extrair aqui. Depois abra um terminal (Aplicações > Acessórios > Consola ou Terminal) e digite:

chmod +x scanModem*

para executar digite:

./scanModem*

aguarde o processo terminar e depois vá na sua pasta de usuário que lá terá uma pasta chamada Modem com vários arquivos .txt, cole aqui o conteúdo do arquivo ModemData.txt

depois abra outro terminal e digite lspci e lspci -n e coloque aqui para vermos o resultado.

Esses comandos me foram passados pelo membro " Alarcon " .

Tenho pouquissíma experiência em linux mas espero poder ajudá-lo se não conseguir outros membros com certeza irão fazer..

For owners of a Dell PCs with Conexant HSF modems, a driver source package with full speed enabled is available, but requires driver compiling. Read DOCs/Conexant.txt


Start at http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/downloads-license.php to find the
hsfmodem package matching your System. For several Linux distros, there are
precompiled drivers matched to specific kernels. These have within the FileName,
your KernelVersion:   2.6.24_16_generic
They can be found through http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/downloads.php
A more precise location may be given a few paragraphs below.
If an EXACT Match with your your KernelVersion is not found, one of the
"Generic packages with source" near the bottom of the page must be used.
Downloaded packages must be moved into the Linux partition (home folder is OK)
and unzipped with:
   unzip hsf*.zip
The installation command for a .deb suffic packages is, with root/adm permission:
  sudo dpkg -i hsf*.deb
while for .rpm suffix it is, with:
  rpm -i hsf*.rpm

Support for Conexant chips hosted on High Definition Audio cards may require
installation of additional packages, one of the alsa-driver-linuxant packages

hsfmodem install, there will be a message if there is necessary installation of

There may a message that "Dependencies" are not satisfied.  In this case the Ubuntu/Debian packages to be installed are linux-libc-dev & libc6-dev. Package

they can be coinstalled with:
   sudo dpkg -i li*.deb
Again try the alsa-driver-linuxant

There may be a message that the patch must be applied.  In this case get the

If a driver compilation fails, with message including some lack of some FileName.h (stdio.h for example), then

Bom dia caro Marcosrokc, no meu pouco conhecimento em linux pelo seu scan modem , aparentemente ha uma placa de som HDA , etá placa também estava no meu scan modem ,a minha máquina é Desktop  o dell inspiron 1525 é um laptop, ou estou enganado. ( essa placa é comum em laptop )
Segundo o membro Alarcon essa placa faz um duplo papel , placa de aúdio e modem ao mesmo tempo; parece ser um modem HDA e está fora dos meus poucos conhecimentos
No meu micro o modem identificado foi um motorola; Smartlynk
Peço um favor envie esses comandos por uma mensagem para o membro "Alarcon " ele é o guru dos modems neste fórum desculpe não poder ajudá-lo com seu problema, mas se conseguir solução do seu problema com o Alarcon notifique este tópico para nosso aprendizado .

Pelo resultado do scanModem me parece que você tem de usar o driver Conexant, então o driver adequado para o Ubuntu 8.04 HArdy Heron 32bits é esse aqui:

Coloque na sua pasta de usuário e depois abra um terminal (Aplicações > Acessórios > Consola ou Terminal) e digite:

sudo dpkg -i hsfmodem_7.68.00.09oem_i386.deb

quando for feita perguntas a você pelo terminal, apenas vá dando ENTER e só responda a referente a localidade como sendo BRAZIL com z mesmo.

Se você não tem o discador gnome-ppp instalado aí, baixe-o daqui:

http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/universe/g/gnome-ppp/gnome-ppp_0.3.23-1_i386.deb

para instalar basta clicar duas vezes sobre o arquivo gnome-ppp_0.3.23-1_i386.deb e digitar sua senha (isso com ele no Ubuntu ok).

Configure com os dados corretos o discador. Seu nome de usuário deve ser o completo com @ e domínio (por exemplo usuario@provedor.com.br) indo nas configurações do gnome-ppp, aba Opções deixe marcada a opção ignorar seqüências de terminal (modo burro). A opção verificar portadora em alguns caso é preciso estar marcada, já em outros não, portanto teste dos dois modos. Na aba Modem, ainda nas configurações do discador gnome-ppp, clique no botão detectar para ele detectar o dispositivo que representa seu modem, mas isso depois de ter instalado o driver conexant ok. Normalmente o dispositivo que representa modems conexant é o /dev/ttySHSF0

Veja também se ao digitar no terminal (menu Aplicações > Acessórios > Consola ou Terminal):

sudo gedit /etc/ppp/pap-secrets

e

sudo gedit /etc/ppp/chap-secrets

no final de cada um destes arquivos tem a informação:

"usuario@provedor.com.br" * "senha1234"

onde as informações entre duas aspas " " são respectivamente o nome de acesso completo do provedor (com @ e domínio) e a senha de acesso do provedor.


Caso seu som fique sem funcionar e o modem funcione, baixe este arquivo:

instale e reinicie o PC para ver se funciona.

OBS: Se você utiliza o Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron 64bits as coisas são mais complicadas em relação a softmodems, portanot recomendaria instalar o Ubuntu 8.04 32bits, agora sei que a DELL fornece driver conexant para 64bits, mas são driver ainda para serem compilados e por tanto mais complicado:

antes de compilar teria de ter instalado nos seu sistema os pacotes:

Minha recomendação é de que mesmo tendo um PC 64bits, usar o Ubuntu 32bits ao invés do Ubuntu 64bits, principalmente por causa das conexões discadas por softmodems que são poucos com suporte 64bits e se já é difícil fazer um softmodem funcionar em 32bits imagina em 64bits.

Você instalou no seu sistema os pacotes:

- make
- gcc
- build-essential
- linux-headers-2.6.24-16-generic

e suas dependências antes de compilar o driver indicado.

Observou se no processo de compilação acusou algum erro?

vou pedir o CD da 32bits (não tenho paciência pra baixar em net discada)

É o seguinte, seu modem é esse:

ID 8086:284b
Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02)

é um modem HDA (High Definition Audio), ou seja, uma placa de som especial que também faz o papel de modem e então se já era complicado fazer um softmodem (ou winmodem) normal funcionar no linux, imagina um modem deste tipo.

Pelo script scanModem foi indicado o driver Conexant como possível driver, o problema é que no Readme deste driver não encontrei a ID do seu modem para os tipos de modem HDA que ele suporta que lá informa esses aqui:

HDA (High Definition Audio) Modems

   only under 2.6.16 or newer kernels

   HDA VENDOR ID 14F12BFA
   HDA VENDOR ID 14F12C06

e mais estes aqui da Intel, sem fazer referencia a HDA:

portanto pelo readme o driver conexant não suportaria seu modem HDA, mas pelo scanModem ele faz referencia ao driver Conexant:

Many modems for which scanModem fails have Conexant chips.

assim como também faz referencia ao driver Smartlink:

e portanto escolhi o driver conexant para você usar, por que para os modems HDA o uso do driver conexant (desde que suportado por ele é claro) é bem mais fácil de usar, pois requer uma simples instalação do pacote .deb e no caso de se usar o driver smartlink teria ainda que compilar e usá-lo de uma forma não convencional. Só consegui ajudar uma pessoa com modem HDA e o driver Smartlink com sucesso somente uma vez e faz um certo tempo. Nas outras tentativas resultou em completo fracasso.

No driver Smartlink também não encontrei nada sobre IDs de modems HDA que ele suporta. Sei que dá suporte, mas não sei para que tipos de modem HDA o que torna mais trabalhoso.
