sem audio apos compilar kernel

Compilei o kernel para a ultima versão lançada, ate sem misterio, mas fica sem audio, ja habilitei o alsa no kernel, e nem assim, alguem compilou para esta versao 2.6.26.5e funcionou tudo?
 Não sei se tem haver alguma coisa com pulse-audio que vempor padrão no ubuntu 8.04 mas não achei nada que habilte ele.

tambem estou com o mesmo problema.
compilei o kernel para usar o ubuntu 8.04 em um laptop.
a compilacao ficou boa, não trava mais,
MAS a placa de video NVIDIA 7400GO nao funciona mais
e o som tambem ;-(
