Oie galera, tudo beleza? Bom, meu primeiro post.
Instalei o Ubuntu 8.10 tem uns 3 dias, estou adorando, já instalei outras distros Linux.

1. Na instalação do Blob And Conquer não adicionou ícone no menu; tentei executar pelo Console e olhe o erro que deu:

Aparece uma janela só que toda preta e consigo ouvir as músicas. Será que porque ele é em 3D?

Não conheço o jogo, mas já que você perguntou se esse problema é porque o jogo é 3D eu pergunto: Sua placa de vídeo é 3D? Ela atende as especificações do jogo? Em caso de respostas positivas, verificou se a aceleração 3D está ativada?

Ela atende as especificações do jogo?
Acho que sim. Vi no site dele os requerimentos (em inglês):

Processor         : Unknown
Color Depth       : 24 bit [estou na dúvida, alguem sabe como ver no Ubuntu?]
Harddrive         : 40 MB [OK]
Graphics          : Hardware Accelerated 3D [OK]
Texture Memory    : Unknown (Tested on ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 - 128MB)
Controls          : Keyboard and Mouse / Joystick*
