O Remastersys agora possui um restaurador do Grub.

remastersys-grub-restore (linha de comando)
remastersys-grub-restore gui (modo gráfico)

Para instalar ou atualizar, adicione ao arquivo

/etc/apt/sources.list
as linhas abaixo:

Para o Ubuntu Gutsy e Anteriores (versões <= 7.10)

# Remastersys
deb http://www.geekconnection.org/remastersys/repository remastersys/

Para o Ubuntu Hardy e Superiores (versões >= 8.04)

Depois execute
Código: [Selecionar]
sudo aptitude update e instale ou atualize o Remastersys com o código
Código: [Selecionar]
sudo aptitude install remastersys
Após a instalação ou atualização irá aparecer no menu "Sistema>>Administração" a opção Remastersys Grub Restore.

OBS.: O Remastersys Grub Restore pode ser usado no modo liveCD/DVD ou pelo sistema.

Excelente dica mesmo quando tiver mais tempo vou testar, por enquanto faço backup usando o Hiren's BootCD com o Acronis True image.
Mas valeu mesmo, principalmente pela possibilidade de criar um liveCD.
É assim que a Comunidade fica mais forte a cada dia que passa.

segui as indicações e não apareceu nada no sistemas administração? por que fiz algo errado?

Provavelmente, no horário em que você tentou instalar o Remastersys, o servidor do mesmo devia estar fora do ar. Eu fiz novos testes hoje de manhã (27/Jun/2009 - 10:00) e deu certo. Desinstalei, limpei o cache e instalei o remastersys novamente. Funcionou perfeitamente.

A minha sugestão é que você tente novamente. Se não conseguir poste o erro e o conteúdo do seu arquivo /etc/apt/sources.list
