Erro:‘deb’ não é conhecido na linha 1 na lista de fontes /etc/apt/souce [Resolvi

Estou com muitos problemas com o Jaunty... Estou com saudades do Hardy!!! Tudo funcionava sem problemas.
Não tenho área de trabalho, meus player de vídeos estão ruim de mais...!
Preciso de ajuda!!!
Como achei que podia ser algo relacionado com a minha Placa Intel(82852/82855) segui o Post (http://silveiraneto.net/2009/05/13/ubuntu-jaunty-ma-performance-grafica/comment-page-1/#comment-4007) para atualizar o driver.  
Tentei executar o comando:
sudo apt-key adv –recv-keys –keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 165d673674a995b3e64bf0cf4f191a5a8844c542
e apareceu isso:
Executing: gpg –ignore-time-conflict –no-options –no-default-keyring –secret-keyring /etc/apt/secring.gpg –trustdb-name /etc/apt/trustdb.gpg –keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg –recv-keys –keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 165d673674a995b3e64bf0cf4f191a5a8844c542

E veio o Erro: ‘E:O tipo ‘“deb’ não é conhecido na linha 1 na lista de fontes /etc/apt/sources.list.d/intel.list, E:A lista de fontes não pôde ser lida.’
Agora este erro está travando minhas atualizações. Tá uma bagunça que eu não sei como fazer.
Alguem pode me dizer como resolver isso.
Por favor, preciso de passo-a-passo para não fazer mais asneira.

Olá Meire,

O comando que indicou aí está mal. volte a escrevê-lo no terminal:

sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 165d673674a995b3e64bf0cf4f191a5a8844c542
Entretanto, e visto estar a dar esse erro, elimine o ficheiro que criou:

Código: [Selecionar]

sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/intel.list
E abra as sources lists:

Código: [Selecionar]

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
E, na nova janela, no final do ficheiro escreva o seguinte:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main

Salve o ficheiro e feche.
Depois corra novamente o dito comando:

Código: [Selecionar]

sudo aptitude update && sudo aptitude safe-upgrade

Segui as suas dicas como vc postou e pela mesma ordem, mas não sei se fiz certo. Mas o erro sumiu, o que já é muito bom!
Se não for pedir demais veja ai como ficou o terminal depois que fiz tudo o que me indicou:

O alerta de atualizações avisa novas atualizações! Estou com esperança que ao menos esta fase esteja superada. Agora falta ver como resolvo o resto... área de trabalho que não aparece nem com reza, Rmvb que roda defasado no Mplayer, VLC, Xine...

Está quase perfeito!

Primeiro tem aí um dos repositórios da Launchpad sem chave de autenticação. Recomendo que utilize este script para resolver o problema:
http://ubuntued.info/2009/06/mantenha-as-chaves-gpg-do-launchpad-sempre-actualizadas.html

Por fim, o seu Ubuntu alerta que você tem repositórios duplicados. Assim, volte a abrir o ficheiro que tinha aberto ateriormente:
sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

E procure por linhas duplicadas referentes aos repositórios da medibuntu. Retire os duplicados, salve e feche a janela. Na consola volte a fazer:
sudo aptitude update && sudo aptitude safe-upgrade

Não percebi a última parte sobre o RMBV...
