Nao consigo mudar a resolucao!

eu sei q eh um assunto muito batido neste forum mas ja olhei todos os topicos a respeito e nada adianta, ja coloquei todas as informacoes do meu monitor no xorg.conf, ja deletei a resolucao 800x600 do xorg.conf e nada, o ubuntu insiste em inicializar em 800x600 e nao existe nenhuma outra resolucao para escolher... tenho uma geforce ti4200 devidamente instalada com o driver da nvidia, segue o meu xorg.conf...

como voces podem observar, ja modifiquei tudo pra tentar inicializar em 1280x1024 e nada adianta...

se eu rodar o xrandir soh aparece a opçao de 800x600 veja

ja tentei reocnfigurar o xorg.conf pelo terminal informando quais resolucoes eu queria e qual a sincronizaçao do monitor e tambem nao adiantou...

Quando você roda o Ubuntu pelo CD-ROM a resolução de tela é a que vc quer? Seu monitor suporta essa resolução?
Se sim, faça uma cópia do xorg.conf com o Ubuntu rodando a partir do CD-ROM e depois compare com o xorg.conf que você tem na instalação do HD. Se souber fazer, faça um backup da sua configuração atual do xorg.conf e depois substitua pela versão rodando a partir do cd-rom. Atente somente que as configurações para sua placa de vídeo Nvidia devem ser refeitas nessa nova versão do Xorg.conf que vc substituiu.

Outra coisa, você instalou os drivers da Nvidia pelos repositórios do Ubuntu ou baixou o driver diretamente da Nvidia e instalou na mão? Aparentemente, seu xorg.conf está correto... 

Depois poste aqui o que vc conseguiu! Mas tome cuidado com o que vc for alterar, sempre faça backup.

nao vai adiantar eu rodar pelo cd e copiar o xorg.conf, pq nele vai estar driver "vesa" e com o vesa funciona as resolucoes mais altas...

e se eu colocar vesa manualmente e reiniciar tem como eu trocar a resolucao, mas ele nao utiliza o driver da nvidia ai nao funciona o xgl nem nada do genero 3d...

eu baixei o driver pelos repositorios do ubuntu, ja tentei pelo site dda nvidia mais nao consegui

axo q o problema deve ser o monitor, os que usam o driver da nvidia por favor olhem o nome do device que aparece, conforme imagem o meu esta com caracteres estranhos... provavelmente por isso nao est'a deixando eu aumentar a resolucao

eh pcausa do driver!!!

eu alterei de nvidia para nv e funcionou todas as resolucoes, soh q o xgl nao funciona assim como tudo que necessida do glx...

alguem sabe se tem alguma outra versao de driver da nvidia q talvez podesse reslver o problema???

usa o combo

CTRL+ALT e as teclas + e -

Isso vai mudando a  resolução a cada pressionamento.

Tipo, tu seguura o ctrl e o alt, e vai apertando o - ou +, ai vai mudando. Aki eu faço assim. E funciona.

aki nao adiantou, eh q as resoluções não estão habilitadas, nao sei por que mais elas nao aparecem pra trocar... nem com akele comando no terminal eu consigo alterar a resolução...

eu tneho uma Geforce Ti4200 de 128mb, serah q o driver da nvidia pra linux dela eh bixado?
