Imagens do Ubuntu 17.10 removidas devido à corrupção de BIOS

Conforme bug preenchido no Launchpad foram reportados vários casos de BIOS corrompida usando o Ubuntu 17.10. A maioria dos casos, aconteceu em notebooks Lenovo, mas podem acontecer em outros modelos.

A investigação chegou à conclusão que o bug está no driver do Intel SPI presente no kernel Linux 4.13. Esse driver será removido do Ubuntu e novas imagens serão disponibilizadas, enquanto isso a recomendação é não instalar a versão 17.10.

Lamentável, essa jogou direto no ventilador   

Diz lá o companheiro Thadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo (cascardo), no post #140, feito hoje, o que foi repetido pelo @janitor no post #166, de duas horas atrás, que o problema foi corrigido (na verdade contornado) no kernel linux-image-4.13.0-21-generic

The fix on linux-image-4.13.0-21-generic will just prevent this from happening on fresh installs. It will not repair systems that had already been affected. BIOS recovery needs to be done some other way.

As we want to prevent other users from hitting this, a new artful image will be generated with this new kernel after it has been verified that it does not cause the problem anymore.

Unfortunately, it's not feasible to have a kernel that will boot and repair an affected BIOS. Please, contact your vendor about that.

This bug was fixed in the package linux - 4.13.0-21.24

Todavia, como claramente se lê, onde o problema já ocorreu por enquanto não há solução. 

A "batata" ainda está quente, muito quente, como se vê nos posts de minutos atrás.

Ok. Problema corrigido com as novas ISOs da versão 17.10.1. O download pode ser feito no link http://releases.ubuntu.com/17.10.1/.
