Gestor de actualizações não consegue verificar 4 ficheiros [resolvido]

Boa noite! Estou com um problema que me impede de fazer actualizações no sistema há cerca de duas semanas, será que alguém me pode ajudar? Uso o Ubuntu 8.04 e não mexi em nada que pudesse provocar isto.
Passa-se o seguinte: quando me aparece o aviso do gestor de actualizações, clico em "verificar" e poucos segundos depois aparece uma mensagem de erro:
"Não foi possível baixar todos os índices dos repositórios.
O repositório não deve estar mais disponível ou não pode ser encontrado devido a problemas de rede. Se estiver disponível uma versão mais antiga do índice falhado ela será utilizada. Senão o repositório será ignorado. Verifique sua conexão de rede e assegure que o endereço do repositório contido nas preferências está correcto.

Se você ainda usa o Feisty seu problema provavelmente é devido ao final do suporte a versão.

Tente seguir a dica da mensagem Re: Problema na instalção do OTRS que você poderá até instalar pacotes, mas entenda que já não existem atualizações de segurança para esta versão.

É estranho que me apareça a palavra "feisty" no endereço destes ficheiros, já tinha reparado. É que a versão que estou a usar é a 8.04, ou seja, o Ubuntu Hardy! Já fui espreitar o tópico que me indicaste mas acabei por ver que não se aplica ao meu problema De qualquer maneira, obrigada pela ajuda.

Mas vou fingir que não vi, então vamos mexer no seu arquivo que tá uma verdadeira salada.

Primeiro faça uma cópia de segurança dele:

Agora edite o arquivo:

Ai exclua a linha que esta em negrito (riscadas e em vermelho) abaixo:

Após isto salve o arquivo e execute o comando:

"Sim senhor" em Portugal é força de expressão!! Não te estava a chamar velho coisa nenhuma!
Já apaguei a linha que me indicaste, gravei, fiz apt-get update e está tudo ok. Agora quando abro o gestor de actualizações aparece indicação de que não há mais nada para actualizar. Obrigada!
