[RESOLVIDO] Problema ao rodar arquivos MKV

Reinstalei o Ubuntu e mesmo com VLC, SMPlayer e Medibuntu alguns videos teimam em não funcionar.
Em alguns seriados especificos, o SMPlayer não mostra o video.

Acho que a unica solução no seu caso é evitar videos em 1080p, ja testou com videos em 720p para ver se também trava?

Ok, então seu monitor esta ajustado para 1280×720?

Se sua resolução for menor que os 1280×720 não irá rodar 720p sem "trancos".

Se eu abro o VLC pelo terminal curiosamente trava menos.

Ao que tudo indica, o problema esta no seu processador que não aguenta o "tranco", talvez tunando o sistema de arquivos (como ensina o galactus), diminuindo o numero de processos (para aliviar o processador) esse problema diminua consideravelmente.
Para saber as resoluções compatíveis com o seu monitor, rode os comandos

e depois
sudo hwinfo --framebuffer

O problema acabou se resolvendo com uma atualização do VLC e outros que surgiu aqui.

acredito então que pode ser algo relacionado ao kernel e/ou aos drives da intel (muitas pessoas estão reclamando de um bug nos drives de vídeo de alguns chipset da intel), mas que bom que tudo voltou a funcionar .
